Figurative

While portraiture is focused on the specific identity of the person depicted, capturing their likeness and character, these paintings aim for something else. A mood, perhaps an implied narrative. But I do try to bring the psychological focus of portraiture to these paintings, and so I consider them somewhere between portraiture and narrative painting.
